2019 has been one of the best years for tech geeks in recent memory. With the holiday season around the corner, I decided to share the three devices that will be topping my Christmas list this year.
Google Stadia
The last time a new company entered the home console market was when Microsoft released the Xbox in 2001. Since then, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft have enjoyed a monopoly on home video gaming consoles.
This year, Google looks likely to upset the status quo; The Google Stadia looks set to change the way we play video games forever.
Currently, we play games stored on physical media on powerful consoles that plug into our televisions. The , however, is designed to be a console for anyone, everywhere. It requires no physical media. Instead, Stadia runs games off Google’s own servers and streams them over the internet. This means you can play on any screen connected to the internet including your desktop, tablet and mobile phone.
One of the main advantages is that you no longer have to wait to download and install games. Similar to Netflix and Spotify, the games stream instantaneously.
The allure of the Google Stadia will, of course, depend on its lineup of games. Luckily, Stadia does not disappoint. Already it has an impressive AAA library including Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy XV and Assassins Creed.
Crafty Plus Herb Vaporizer
In the UK, dry herb vaporizer stores such as Vape Elevate have become increasingly popular as we become better educated on the dangers of smoking. As a result, the best vaporizer manufacturers are investing millions in creating technologically advanced vaporizing devices. In 2019, there is no better example of this than the Crafty Plus vaporizer.
The Crafty Plus is the latest device from vaping legends, Storz and Bickel and is a nice addition to a lineup that includes the Mighty, Plenty and Volcano.
This model has an improved cooled air-flow and a larger, more impressive battery.
Instead of being powered by conduction and convection, The Crafty Plus implements hybrid heating which has been proven to be the most efficient method of extraction.
If you’re in the market for an herbal vaporizer this year, then you can do no wrong going with 2019’s Crafty Plus.
Ambassador Translator
In the UK, less than 10% of us are bilingual. This is poor when compared to our European cousins; of which 25% speak three languages or more!
This can make it difficult for UK citizens to do business in other countries.
To help, Waverly Labs have invented a device that automatically translates audio as you speak.
Best of all, it appears to be very easy to use too. All you do is attach one to your ear, and give the other to the foreign person you’re speaking to. Then all you have to do is speak! The Waverly Ambassador Translator will then play the correct translation in both of your ears without skipping a beat!
Currently, the Ambassador Translator is not yet available to purchase in shops. However, if you visit its page on Indiegogo it is still possible to get hold of an early-access version
Huawei P30.
Over the last decade, the Huawei P series of mobile phones have come a long way. Five years ago, they were considered a ‘me too’ copy of iPhones. However, today they have closed the gap between themselves and the Apple and Samsung duopoly and can honestly pitch their devices as a premium, high-end phone with the latest technological innovations.
The Huawei P30 Pro is as aesthetically pleasing as any mobile phone available on the market today. Its body boasts a two-tone colour pallet that shimmers in the sunlight and its 6.57OLED screen is one of the most vibrant I have seen.
It’s all well and good looking pretty but what is most important is what is ‘under the hood’! Here, the Huawei P30 Pro does not disappoint. Inside is Huawei’s famous Kirin 980 processor which is supported by a massive 8GB or Random Access Memory. As a result, you can flick between different apps instantly. It has one of the smoothest performances of any Android device and at times, can even rival the performance of the iPhone X.
In 2019, battery life is more important than ever because our phones are now basically mini-computers and drain energy resources very quickly. The Huawei P30 Pro combats this was a massive 3,300mAh battery which is one of the largest I’ve ever seen on a phone. The battery life is lengthened further by EMUI, Huawei’s proprietary operating system. This software can efficiently switch apps in and out of the RAM when they’re not in use. This goes a long way to minimising battery consumption. The result of all this innovation is a phone you can expect to get more than a full days use from before you need to go search for a charger.
Finally, the flagship feature of the Huawei P30 Pro is its unprecedented 40-megapixel camera. No other camera phone comes even close to its performance.
Even in low light, the camera can produce vibrant pictures that are full of colour and expression. The camera is also supported by a 10x optical zoom which rivals the performance of stand-alone DSLR cameras. To put this in context, this is 5x the performance of both the Samsung S10 and iPhone X which offers only a 2x optical zoom.
Rav Power Bank
Having all of these portable gadgets means that at some point you’re going to have to charge them. If you’re on the move, a portable power bank can come in handy and the Rav Power Bank is the best portable power bank of them all. It holds a massive 22,000mAh of charge which for example, is enough to charge the Huawei P30 seven times!
Best of all, it can charge multiple devices at the same time which is really useful, especially if you have two devices about to drain of battery at the same time.
